Guitarists often encounter confusion when dealing with slash chords. Fortunately, these chords are straightforward to understand once their purpose is clear.

The primary function of slash chords is to indicate when the lowest pitch in a chord is not the root note. This bass note, although typically played on a bass guitar, can be any note within the harmonic context. For example, G/B represents a G major chord with a B note as the bass. When spoken aloud, it is referred to as G-over-B or G slash B.

The Slash Chords on Guitar application offers a comprehensive collection of 24 chord types—12 major and 12 minor—each featuring up to 15 variations. Users can select chords by type and key, explore different variations, and hear the progression played at various speeds. The app also provides detailed information on the scale degrees and notes that compose each chord, allows for transposition, and displays finger positions on the fretboard. Additionally, there is a built-in "Open strings lock" feature for exploring open string chords. Future updates will expand the chord library at no additional cost.
